I was born in Korea, and when I was four years old, I smuggled into Japan and grew up. My parents used to protected me from discrimination against Koreans in Japan. I had antipathy to Japanese, but at the same time, I was brought up with Japanese culture and liked it. I was a warped young man with love, disgust, intimacy and anger. I loved the parents country, but I had no memory of living in there. Claywork is a work I made mainly in my 20's and 30's. Here, based on my identity as a Korean living in Japan, I am exploring my view of the world and life through the creation of portraits.
